An analyst report is a document that is produced by an analyst from a research team in an investment firm or brokerage. Analyst reports are not limited to any specific type of investment.
Analyst reports can often be produced with information that supports a particular recommendation (i.e. whether to buy or sell a particular investment). It is basically an opinion from a finance professional.
The reports can provide investors with useful information on a particular investment. However, as analyst reports are opinion-based, they can often be wrong, so investors shouldn’t rely solely on them.
Analyst reports can either be free or paid-for. Free reports can be found through most brokerage companies, while paid-for reports can be found through research providers or research resellers.
